Kerry Davies Pierce, M.S., RM(NRCM)
Technical Services Manager
For as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in microbes and disease. I studied molecular microbiology in graduate school and I hold bachelor and master's degrees in the Biological Sciences from Florida State University. During my graduate career, I studied the global impact of opportunistic flora and disease-causing bacteria on marine crustaceans in the commercial fishing industry, which led to the discovery of novel gamma-proteobacteria capable of secreting chitinolytic enzymes and helped demonstrate key environmental conditions impacting marine ecosystems.
After spending a decade living and traveling in the South, my husband and I, both California natives and central coast locals, returned. We live here with our young twins and spend quality time with loved ones and exploring the outdoors: hiking, biking, gardening, swimming, etc.
During my academic career, I found I truly enjoyed teaching science to others. As a result, I have been teaching college courses in the life sciences for the past 10 years. In 2007, I came to Hardy and found an opportunity to combine my enthusiasm for people with my passion for microbiology. Science taught me that life is a learning process, and I strive to keep up with new developments in order to provide the best support and services to our customers.
