MRSA Latex Test for PBP2'
MRSA Latex Test

Detects methicillin resistant S. aureus and methicillin resistant coagulase-negative staphylococci in only 15 minutes!

The NEW, FDA cleared, MRSA Latex Kit for PBP2' detects Penicillin Binding Protein 2' (PBP2') in isolates of Staphylococcus aureus and coagulase-negative staphylococci. PBP2' is a protein coded by the mecA gene and is present in the membranes of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and coagulase-negative staphylococci. The latex particles in this kit are coated with antibodies specific to the PBP2' protein. This is a highly specific and sensitive test that has been successfully used around the world for several years.

Saves Time - Total test time is 15 minutes, while traditional agar methods take 1-2 days.

Accurate - 100% sensitive and 99% specific (from TSA with blood); more accurate than agar or MIC methods.

Convenience - You can pick colonies directly from the modified LIA slant for antisera confirmation.

Economical - Saves time and money by eliminating the need for expensive PCR or time-consuming agar methods.

Simple Procedure - Performed with common lab equipment. The procedure involves an extraction, heating, centrifugation, and a latex agglutination step.
